Fleet & Vessel Icons

Two separate things decide how boats look on the chart: how your boat appears to everyone else, and how their boats appear to you. This page covers both.

How other boats appear to you

Open Settings > Fleet & Group Icons. The page opens with the line: "Control how fleet members who share their location appear on your map."

Group Member Icons

Setting Description
Show Group Member Icons Turn group members' boat markers (and photo badges) on or off.
Icon Size Scale the boat markers across five sizes. Default keeps the standard size.
Icon Transparency Fade the boat markers so they cover less of the map. Solid by default.
Profile Badge Transparency Fade the circular profile photo shown over a member's boat at close zoom.

Icon Size runs on a slider from Small to Large, with the current setting named underneath.

Icon Transparency and Profile Badge Transparency both run from Solid to Clear, with the current value shown as a percentage underneath. Transparency ships at 0% clear for the boat markers and 20% clear for the profile badges.

Crowded line?

If fleet markers are burying the chart when the whole fleet is on the same line, fade Icon Transparency rather than turning the icons off. You keep the positions without losing sight of the boundary underneath.

Your vessel name and highlight colour

Your vessel name is what your fleet sees next to your marker. The icon highlight colour is the ring around your marker, which makes you easier to pick out of a crowd.

Both are set in the Vessel Settings popup. Reach it from Edit Account on the Tools tab, using the Edit Vessel & Icon Color button.

Field Description
VESSEL NAME Your boat's name, as your fleet sees it
ICON HIGHLIGHT COLOR The ring colour. A preview circle above shows the current choice

For the colour you can:

  • Tap Choose Custom Color to pick any colour.
  • Or tap one of the Preset Colors: swatches. The first swatch, labelled None, clears the highlight.

Tap Save to apply, or Cancel to back out.

Your profile photo

Tap your profile icon on the Tools tab to change it. The app offers Take Photo and Choose from Gallery, plus Remove Icon if you already have a custom one.

Privacy warning

The first time you upload an icon, a Profile Icon Privacy Warning appears. It states that your profile icon will be visible to:

  • All members in your fleet groups
  • Anyone you share your location with
  • Potentially other users/processors on the platform

And asks that your icon:

  • Does not contain personal identifying information
  • Is appropriate for a professional community
  • Complies with community guidelines

Tap Continue to go ahead, or Cancel to back out. There is a Don't show this again checkbox if you do not want the reminder each time.

Think before you upload

A photo of your permit, your licence, your crew's faces, or anything with a name or number on it is not a good profile icon. Assume anyone on the platform may end up seeing it.
