Freight in the App

In the app -- not the web portal

This page covers freight as you see it in the Bristol Maps app. Processor staff working in the browser want Freight Inventory instead.

Freight is your gear, groceries, and supplies moving through your processor's system. The Freight tab shows what is coming to you, where it is, and what state it is in.

Finding it

Open the Tools tab, sign in, and find the processor section. Tap the Freight tab. The section header reads My Freight.

If you belong to more than one processor fleet, the freight list follows whichever processor is selected in the dropdown above the tabs.

The freight list

Each item in the list shows:

Field Description
Shipping ID The tracking identifier for the item
Status Where the shipment is in its journey
Tag: The RFID tag on the package, if it has one
Destination: Where it is headed
Current Location: Where it was last seen
Notes: Your notes on the item
Processor Notes: Notes added by the processor

While the list is still loading you will see Freight Loading.... If there is nothing to show, No freight items found.

Searching and filtering

  • The Search freight... bar filters the list as you type.
  • Filter by Type: narrows the list to one category of freight. All shows everything.
  • At the bottom, Items per page: plus Previous and Next step through long lists.
  • Refresh Freight pulls the latest from the server.

The in-app help for this section sums it up as: search by tracking ID, destination, or notes; check current location and delivery status; tap any freight item for full details; use the page controls to move through all shipments.

Scan QR

Scan QR, next to the search bar, opens the camera so you can scan the code on a package instead of hunting for it in the list. A successful scan opens that item's detail page.

If the code is not one of ours, the app says: "That QR code is not a Bristol Maps freight or tag link."

If the code is valid but the item is not in your list yet, you get: "No freight matches that QR code. Pull to refresh the freight list and try again."

Camera permission

If the scanner will not open, the app tells you the camera is unavailable and to check that camera permissions are granted. That is an operating system permission, not an app setting.

Freight detail page

Tap any item to open Freight Details. It is organised into cards:

Card Contents
Header Shipping ID, Tag ID:, and the current status
Vessel Information Vessel Name, Processor, Tender, User
Location Information Destination, Current Location, distance from you, and a Map button
Status and Timeline Status, Created, Last Updated, and Updated By
Notes Your notes, with an Edit button

The Map button in Location Information takes you to the item's location on the chart.

Editing notes

  1. Tap Edit in the Notes card.
  2. Type into the editor, which shows Add notes... when empty.
  3. Tap Save, or Cancel to discard.

View Full Details on Bristol Fleet opens the item in the Bristol Fleet web app, which has more than the app shows. Close returns you to the list.
