Notifications & Announcements

Announcements are in-season ADF&G information -- openers, closures, escapement, emergency orders -- pulled into the app so you do not have to go hunting for the email. Notifications are how the app taps you on the shoulder when something new arrives.

Recent Announcements

On the Tools tab, scroll to Recent Announcements. The ⟳ button next to the header reloads the list.

Filtering the list

Filter Description
FILTER BY FISHERY Narrow to one fishery, or show everything
SHOW RECENT How many to show: 5, 10, 20, 50, or All
FILTER BY DISTRICT Narrow to a single district

Reading an announcement

Each announcement is a collapsed row. Tap it to expand. Inside you get:

  • A block headed AI GENERATED SUMMARY, marked ⚠ Use at your own discretion
  • The summary text
  • A View Full Announcement button, which opens the original document

The summary is not the announcement

The summary is machine-generated from the original document. It can miss a qualifier, a date, or a district. Tap View Full Announcement and read the real thing before you act on it. If the two disagree, the original document wins, every time.

The in-app help describes the section as: filter by fishery to see relevant announcements, an AI-generated summary on each for quick reading, tap through to see the full document, and announcements are automatically updated from official sources.

Push notifications

Notification settings live under Edit Account on the Tools tab, in the Notifications section.

Setting Description
All Push Notifications Master switch for all push delivery
Announcements New ADF&G announcements
Fleet Messages Messages posted by your processor
Group Chat Messages New messages in your group chats
Fish Tickets A new fish ticket has been created for you
Chat Sound Plays a chime when chat messages arrive

Turning off All Push Notifications stops everything, whatever the individual switches say. Use the per-category switches when you want, say, announcements but not chat pings.

Per-group notifications

Each group card in the Groups section has its own Notifications switch. That controls notifications for that one group, so you can stay loud on your fleet and quiet on a group you only watch.

Two layers

A group's notifications only reach you if the matching category switch and the master switch are also on. If a group has gone quiet unexpectedly, check all three.

When things do not arrive

  • Announcements are fetched from the server, so nothing new appears while you are out of coverage. The ⟳ button forces a refresh once you are back.
  • Push notifications also depend on your device's own notification permission for Bristol Maps, which is set in your phone's settings, not in the app.
