Pot & Gear Tracking¶
In the app: Settings > Pot & Gear Tracking – “Pot display, string tracking, cloud backup, dragger sharing”
“Pot and string display, tracking, cloud backup, and sharing options.” The page is five cards, mirrored below. What the features themselves do is on Pots & Gear, Strings & Pots, Pick Mode and Sync & Sharing.
Settings¶
Display¶
| Setting | What it does |

| Display Gear Points | Show your pots and gear markers on the map. Off by default. Also shows the crab and gear buttons on the map. |
| Show String Labels | Label each pot with its string name on the map. Off by default. |
| Show String Track Lines | Draw the recorded track line for each gear string. On by default. |
| Gear Icon Size | A slider from 0.4 to 1.6; the default is 0.8. Bigger markers also make crowded strings collapse sooner. |
| Collapse Crowded Strings | When a string’s pots would overlap, draw one line with the string name instead of the individual pot icons. On by default. |
| Collapse Sensitivity | How eagerly strings collapse. ‘Sooner’ shows fewer pot icons; ‘Later’ keeps them on screen further out. Much sooner, Sooner, Normal (default), Later or Much later. Greyed out while Collapse Crowded Strings is off. |
Tracking¶

| Background Pot Tracking | Keep recording string tracks while the app is in the background. Off by default. |
| Siri ‘Trackline’ Means Gear Track | Voice commands like “start my trackline” control the active string’s gear track instead of the vessel track line. Off by default. iOS only. |
| Auto-Stop Tracking (minutes) | Stop an active string track after this many minutes without movement. 60 by default. |
Pick Mode¶

| Show Next-Pot HUD | On tablets, draw the string layout with the bearing and distance to the next pot beside the pick list. Phones always show the next pot as a single line. On by default. |
| HUD North-Up | Keep north at the top of the HUD instead of turning it with the vessel’s heading. Off by default; the pick page’s HDG↑ / N↑ button changes it for the current pick. |
| Keep Set Time on Haul | New picks start with ‘Pots re-set after hauling’ off, so hauling a pot leaves its set time alone. Each pick can still flip it. Off by default. |
Cloud Sync¶

Share with Drag Boats¶

| Share Pot Locations with Draggers | Dragger accounts will be able to see your pot and string locations until this expires, so drag boats can steer clear of your gear. Requires pot & string cloud backup. |
| Share For | Shown once dragger sharing is on: 24 hours, 7 days (default), 30 days, End of season (Dec 31) or Until I turn it off. A status line underneath reads “Sharing pot locations until Sep 19, 2026 6:12 PM.” |
Finding a setting fast
The Settings hub has a search bar at the top. Type part of a setting’s name and it will jump straight to it.
On the desktop app¶
Settings > Pots & Gear on the desktop app has the display switches “Display pots and gear on the map”, “Show string track lines” and “Collapse crowded strings into a single line” with its Collapse sensitivity picker; the same three Pick Mode settings; Cloud Sync with “Back up pots & strings to your account (sync across devices)”, a status line and a Sync Now button; and Share with Drag Boats as above.
It has no string-label, icon-size, background-tracking or Siri rows, and no Tracking card – + New String in the map sidebar starts recording on its own, and the desktop app has to be running to record at all.
