Filtering & Counter¶
Two things that make a long season of log entries usable: narrowing the log list down to the entries you actually want, and keeping a running fish count inside an entry.
Filtering the Log List¶
Open the Logs tab. The gear button (⚙) next to the search bar opens the Filter Logs popup. When a filter is active the button is outlined in blue so you can tell at a glance that you are not looking at everything.
Filter Options¶
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| SEARCH DESCRIPTION | Free text against the entry's notes. Placeholder reads e.g. good tide, strong current |
| Has Sets | Only entries that recorded at least one set |
| Has Deliveries | Only entries that recorded at least one delivery |
| Has Location | Only entries with a saved position |
| Show Log Photos | Display option, not a filter -- turns photo thumbnails on or off in the list. Saved to your settings straight away |
| SEARCH BY TAG | Tap tag chips to select them. Chips are built from the tags actually present in your logs. There is also a Custom tag search... box for free text |
| DISTRICT | Tap district chips. Built from the districts actually present in your logs |
| WIND DIRECTION | Tap any of N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW |
If you have no tags or no districts in your logs yet, the popup says No tags found in logs or No districts found in logs instead of showing chips.
Applying and Clearing¶
- Apply closes the popup and re-filters the list.
- Clear All resets every filter.
- The ✕ in the top right closes the popup.
Tags are what make filtering pay off
District and wind direction are filled in for you, but tags are yours. Tagging entries with something consistent -- a set spot, a tide stage, a buyer -- is what lets you pull up "everything I did on that shoal on a big ebb" three seasons later.
The search bar above the filter button still works alongside the filter: it matches on name, district, tags, or date.
Counting Fish in an Entry¶
Counts live on the catches inside a log entry, not on a separate screen. Open a log entry and find the Catches section.
Two buttons add rows:
| Button | What it records |
|---|---|
| + Set | A set. The quantity field is a Quantity -- a fish count |
| + Delivery | A delivery. The quantity field flips to Pounds |
Tap a row to expand it and edit:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A label for the set or delivery |
| Type | Set or Delivery. Tapping the button switches it |
| Gear | Free-text gear description |
| Species | Free-text species |
| Quantity / Pounds | Fish count for a set, pounds for a delivery. The label and field swap automatically with the Type |
| Description | Free-text notes on that row |
Above the list, two running totals update as you type:
- Total Sets
- Total Deliveries (in pounds)
The entry header also carries a one-line summary -- for example 3 deliveries, 5 sets, 1200 fish.
Swiping a catch row left gives you Delete, Location, and Track Line actions.
Counts on a fish ticket are separate
The tally lines that show on a fish ticket come from your processor, not from what you counted here. Both are useful, and they will not always agree. See Fish Tickets.
No standalone counter screen
There is no separate full-screen tally counter in the current build -- counting is done in the Quantity field on each set. If you want a big-button counter, say so at support@bristolmaps.com.
